Three organizations involved in a joint research-and-development project have received an R&D 100 award for a wireless paging and emergency warning system for underground mines.
The recipients are Noranda Technology Centre of Pointe Claire, Que., VLF Magnetic Systems of Scarborough, Ont., and the U.S. Bureau of Mines. The Canary Mine Messenger System is the product of advanced geophysics technology.
