Alberta Stock Exchange Kingswood active (February 26, 1990)

A volume leader for the week ended Feb. 20 was Toronto-based Kingswood Explorations, which saw more than a million of its shares traded to close at 87cents. That’s a gain of 30cents from last week’s price of 57cents. Good drill results were reported recently from a couple of holes on the company’s Devon gold property in Beatty Twp., Ont. The fact that Kingswood is also working on three gold properties in Quebec’s bustling Casa Berardi district, where a discovery was announced recently by Inco, is adding appeal to its shares. The company is planning to drill about 5,000 ft. on its 188-claim property in Gaudet Twp., and another 8,000 ft. on its property in Fenelon Twp, Que.

Another Casa Berardi area claimholder, Northern Abitibi Mining, added 10cents to its share price before closing at $1.15. Northern Abitibi is disputing the validity of a joint venture agreement it signed with Inco on claims north of the Douay Twp. gold discovery of Inco, Vior and Cambior.

Shares of Trevco Oil & Gas fell by 29cents to close at $1.15 after the company announced plans to conduct additional exploration work, including bulk sampling, on some gold-copper concessions it owns in Jamaica.

Naxos Resources reported high- grade silver assays from recent drilling on a property near Death Valley in Inyo Cty., Calif. That issue traded 299,500 shares to post a gain of 55cents. Naxos’ shares closed at $1.99 for this week.

Golden Crescent Resources saw moderate trading with volume of 98,500 in the $1.61-1.75 range. The company is exploring a couple of interesting gold properties in Ontario as part of a joint venture agreement with Placer Dome.

Bayaura Mines was active in the 30-38cents range on volume of 345,000 shares. The company owns a gold property near the Golden Patricia mine in northwestern Ontario.
