Drilling on the Amayapampa gold project in Bolivia is returning lower grades outside the area of historic and active workings.
Past and present mining on the property focused on small-scale, underground mining to exploit high-grade, narrow veins within a 50-metre wide shear zone. Da Capo Resources (VSE), which can buy a 70% interest in the property for $6 million, is working on outlining a potentially open-pit, bulk-tonnage reserve. Drill hole AP7 intersected 70 metres grading 0.46 grams gold per tonne and AP8 returned 58 metres grading 0.7 grams. Visible gold was observed in several places in both holes and, as a result, the two intersections are being re-assayed.
Assays from the two holes compare poorly with assays released in October, including 142 metres grading 2.12 grams in hole AP2 and 59.8 metres grading 0.95 grams in AP3.
Drilling on Amayapampa is expected to continue through the winter. Da Capo also released drill results from its Capa Circa gold project in Bolivia.
Results from hole CC6 are 4.4 metres grading 1.76 grams, 5.9 metres of 1.19 grams and 0.6 metres of 4.45 grams. Hole CC7 returned a 61.5-metre interval of 1.08 grams which includes 7.3 metres of 3.4 grams.
